Guyana to ratify CARICOM arrest treaty

Guyana will move to ratify the CARICOM Arrest Treaty, which was signed by several member states, including Guyana, in Grenada last July, Minister of State Joseph Harmon announced yesterday. Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, The Bahamas and Barbados have also signed the treaty but have not yet ratified it.

EU removes Bahamas, St Kitts from tax haven blacklist

European Union finance ministers agreed on Friday to remove the Caribbean island countries of the Bahamas and Saint Kitts and Nevis from an EU list of tax havens. The two countries had been included on the blacklist in March as their tax rules and practices were deemed not in line with EU standards.

The Bahamas and St. Kitts-Nevis removed from EU tax list

BRUSSELS, May 25, CMC – The Council of the European Union on Friday announced the removal of The Bahamas and St. Kitts Nevis from the EU’s list of non-cooperative tax jurisdictions. “Having fewer jurisdictions on the list is a measure of the success of the listing process”, said Vladislav Goranov, Minister for Finance of Bulgaria, which currently holds the Council presidency.
