Was the violent confrontation between white supremacists and equally despicable anarchists, ANTIFA, staged to further divide America? Then there’s the shooting in Parkland, Florida. According to the N.Y. Post, deputies were called to the Parkland shooter …

Anyone who thinks disgraced former FBI Director James Comey is the only PR problem in the 109-year-old agency clearly hasn’t met this idiot yet:
This unnamed off-duty FBI agent and complete moron almost killed someone at a Denver nightclub Saturday night when, while performing a back handspring, his gun fell to the ground and went off, sending a bullet speeding into the leg of a patron. While it’s true the victim is reportedly OK, this doesn’t excuse the agent’s incompetence.
What’s even more astounding is that by Sunday morning the perpetrator had not yet been publicly identified. Nor did it appear he would be facing any consequences for his actions.
“Authorities have not identified the agent because he was not arrested, Denver police community resource officer Marika Putnam said,” CNN reported Sunday afternoon. “Denver police will continue investigating the incident, and the district attorney’s office will determine whether charges will be filed against the agent.”
Does anyone really believe the agent will be fired, let alone even suspended?
From failing to stop the Parkland shooter in February to refusing to pursue criminal charges against the Obama-era IRS goons who targeted conservative groups, the contemporary incarnation of the bureau is nothing like the FBI of J. Edgar Hoover.
Nothing better demonstrates this than the behavior of Comey, who successfully transformed the once revered agency into an international laughing stock.
Watch below as he describes to late night host Conan O’Brien about how he once sang a Beyoncé song during a briefing:
What an absolute joke of a man and FBI director. But in his limited defense, at least he never almost killed someone — or at least not that anybody is aware of.
And at least he never once got so drunk with an exotic dancer that he passed out, only to later wake up and discover he’d been robbed blind.
Cell phone videos taken by Nikolas Cruz before the Parkland shooting show that he was planning the attack in detail and looking forward to people seeing him on the news. The Sun-Sentinel reports:
In three chilling cellphone video clips, at least one of which appears to have been recorded on the day of the Feb. 14 shooting, Cruz, 19, calmly outlines his plans.
“When you see me on the news you’ll know who I am,” he says, chuckling. “You’re all going to die. Pew pew pew pew pew. Ah yeah. Can’t wait.”…
“My name is Nik, and I’m going to be the next school shooter of 2018,” he said. “My goal is at least 20 people.”…
“Today is the day. The day that it all begins. The day of my massacre shall begin,” Cruz says. “All the kids in school will run in fear and hide. From the wrath of my power they will know who I am.”…
Cruz offered only vague hints about his motive.
“I’ve had enough being told what to do and when to do. … Telling me I’m an idiot and a dumbass,” he says. “In real life, you’re all the dumbass. You’re all stupid and brainwashed.”
It seems to me the author of this piece is skipping over one obvious motive which Cruz mentioned repeatedly in these brief videos. First, everyone in school would know who he was. Second, everyone would see him on the news and know who he was. Third, in the last video below he says, “With the power of my AR, you will all know who I am.” He goes on to say, “You will all see. You will all know who my name is.”
Cruz seems pretty confident he’s about to become famous, so maybe we shouldn’t overlook that as part of his motive. As I suggested here, there’s a good argument to be made that school shooters, especially since Columbine, are inspired by the idea of becoming notorious killers. The media repeating their names and showing their faces on television, essentially making them instantly famous, inspires more troubled kids with few real prospects to aim for similar fame.
Watch this clip and notice that when he says “When you see me on the news you’ll know who I am,” is the only time he smiles. I’m contributing in a small way to that process but I think the larger issue is the network news and cable shows. I’m not looking for a any kind of law but maybe ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and Fox should consider not playing clips like this or referring to these shooters by name. If notoriety, even in death is their goal, maybe denying them that will result in fewer school shooters.

Zachary Cruz, brother of Parkland shooter Nikolas Cruz, left South Florida for Virginia with his two dogs on Sunday afternoon. There, he’s expected to finish high school and work at a new job. Zachary Cruz also said he wants to start a campaign to help …
Zachary Cruz was arrested for trespassing at the school where his brother allegedly killed 17 people. A Virginia-based company founded by a gay businessman last week arranged for the release from jail of the brother of the Parkland, Fla., shooting suspect who had been arrested in March for trespassing on the grounds of the school in which his brother allegedly killed 17 people.
I found this story particularly disturbing for some reason. James and Kimberly Snead are the couple who allowed the killer in the Parkland school shooting to move into their home after his mother passed away, roughly ten weeks before the attack. Now, after most of the stories from that tragedy have been told and their world was turned upside down, two families of victims of the shooting are suing the Sneads. (LA Times)
The Sneads, who say they felt sorry for their son’s 19-year-old friend after he was left orphaned, have already been named as defendants in two civil lawsuits connected to the Feb. 14 attack at the Parkland school.
One is a wrongful death claim filed by the estate of 18-year-old Meadow Pollack. The other is a negligence complaint filed by the parents of Anthony Borges, the 15-year-old who survived five bullet wounds.
The Sneads anticipate they will be named in more lawsuits in the coming weeks and months. They say they fear the litigation will rapidly drive them into bankruptcy and they don’t have the money to even hire an attorney to defend them.
“We’re like many other families in America today. We live paycheck to paycheck,” James Snead said in an interview Thursday.
The linked article has a fairly complete summary of what’s publicly known about the Snead’s history with the shooter. They’d only taken him in less than three months before the attack. Though lots of people had known about problems at the shooter’s home when he lived with his mother and had noticed many red flags, the Sneads insist that nobody told them anything other than the fact that the shooter had been depressed about his mother’s passing and had been in some fights at school.
As far as the social media postings, the Sneads are apparently not technically savvy. They knew the shooter had guns and had asked permission to bring them to the home, but Mr. Snead insisted he had to have a locked gun safe to keep them in, which he did. And the shooter apparently managed to stay on his best behavior at the house.
Putting myself in their position, it just seems a bit unfair that people are piling on to sue them and drive them into bankruptcy. It’s not as if the other families are going to get any money out of them. They rent the house and have very little in the way of savings. Some of the families are suing the estate of the shooter’s mother which I suppose is reasonable enough. They’re also suing the Sheriff who froze up at the scene of the crime. Before long they expect to sue the school and pretty much everyone else in the state government.
But why sue the Sneads? They took in a kid they perceived as being in crisis (as well as being a friend of their own son) who had just been left orphaned. Sure, he turned out to be a monster, but they were still only just getting to know him. This doesn’t really sound like justice to me.
Zachary Cruz is hugged by Mike Donovan, CEO of Nexus Services, Inc., after a judge granted Cruz the ability to move to Virginia to serve his probation for trespassing at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and to participate in the Nexus program during a hearing at the Broward County Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Friday, May 11, 2018.
Zachary Cruz was well-acquainted with older brother Nikolas Cruz’s rages even before the Feb. 14 massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, where he killed 17 people. In an interview with the Miami Herald, Zachary Cruz, 18, said a few months before the shooting rampage, his 19-year-old brother threatened to shoot him over a jar of Nutella.
