Netanyahu: Israel will win ‘ongoing’ conflict with Iran

PM says IDF ‘acted accordingly’ by mounting dozens of strikes on Iranian forces in Syria in retaliation for missile barrage directed at Jewish state Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Friday that Israel would be victorious in its “ongoing campaign” against Iran, amid warnings from Jerusalem that the Islamic Republic’s continued military presence in Syria would not be tolerated. “We are in the midst of an ongoing campaign and we are going to win it,” he said, a day after Israel mounted dozens of strikes on Iranian military sites in Syria in response to an Iranian missile barrage directed at northern Israel.

Iranian forces in Syria launched a rocket attack on Israeli army bases in the Golan Heights early on Thursday, Israel said, prompting one of the heaviest Israeli barrages in Syria since the conflict there began in 2011. The attack on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, just past midnight, marked the first time Iranian forces have hit Israel from Syria, where they have deployed along with Iran-backed Shi’ite militias and Russian troops to support President Bashar al-Assad in the civil war.

Israel Strikes Iranian Targets in Syria After Golan Heights Attack

Israel’s military carried out strikes against Iranian targets in Syria after it said Iranian forces based there fired rockets on the Golan Heights, in what appeared to be the first instance of a direct attack by Iran against Israel from Syria.
