Ethiopia accepts peace deal with longtime rival Eritrea

Ethiopia has announced it will fully accept the terms of a peace agreement with neighboring Eritrea in a major step toward calming deadly tensions with its decades-long rival. The development Tuesday night came as the ruling party also announced that the East African nation, one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies, will open up parts of state-owned enterprises in sectors such as energy, aviation and telecoms to private investment.

Abu Dhabi Fund for Development Finances 11 Projects Worth Dh1.4 Billion in 2017

Abu Dhabi Fund for Development , the leading national entity for development aid, today announced that it financed 11 development projects worth AED1.4 billion in 2017, benefiting 9 developing countries. Totalling more than AED646 million, four of the 11 projects were allocated as concessionary loans to Egypt, Antigua and Barbuda and the Maldives, whereas the remaining seven projects were funded via development grants amounting to AED754 million, aiding Colombia, Yemen, Comoros, Eritrea, Somalia, Palestine and Maldives.
