At least 18 officers from Humberside Police rode the cars in full uniform at Hull Fair while other colleagues looked on.

One of the riders was Chief Superintendent Darren Downs, who posted a picture on Twitter and described having a "fantastic afternoon at the fair".

This is a splendid example of two things:

  • the usual suspects whinging &
  • the police demonstrating they are part of the community

It is a welcome change from the usual drift into politically correct totalitarianism – and that is the problem that needs to be addressed in the police and all areas of government.
