HARLINGEN A Rio Grande Valley veteran was nominated to attend a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs bill signing in Washington, D.C. The Mission Act allows veterans to access non-VA care if they need services that are not offered by the VA or if approved by their doctor.

U.S. Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., started off her Memorial Day weekend with a visit Friday to the Wilson County Veterans Plaza. Blackburn, and several other elected officials and guests, received a guided tour of the Wilson County Veterans Museum, which opened last year, courtesy of Wilson County Commissioner and veteran Jerry McFarland.
