A White Lion And White Tiger Just Had A Baby And It’s Taking The Internet By Storm

What happened when a white lion and a white tiger had babies together? The internet lost its collective mind, as photos of the wild cat hybrid cubs (called Ligers, of course) was about the cutest thing to ever land online. Back in 2014, the world’s first white tigers were born and they were the most adorable — and rarest — big cats in existence.

At the time that Yeti, Odlin, Sampson, and Apolo were born, in 2013, they were the first of their kind: born from a white male lion, Ivory, and a white female tiger, Saraswati. In 2014, there were around 300 white lions and 1,200 white tigers left in the world, so their parents were already fairly rare.

Then came these sweet lion-tiger cubs, with only about 1,000 ligers in the world, most of which live in captivity. The family of ligers and their parents live at the T.I.G.E.R. Sanctuary in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The sanctuary has successfully bred ligers before, including Hercules, which the Guinness Book of World Records listed as the biggest cat in the world, coming in at 922 pounds.

The safari’s director and founder of the T.I.G.E.R Sanctuary, Doc Antle, told the Daily Mail about how quickly the cubs were growing, noting: “I skip a day seeing them and it looks like they’ve doubled in size. It’s like someone’s blowing them up with a tire pump.”

The cubs had enjoyed swimming and were sociable, with the smallest, Apollo, acting most like a house cat, enjoying the handlers petting him. The largest of the litter, Yeti, by comparison, was more energetic and liked to be the center of attention.

According to the Myrtle Beach Safari website, Doc Antle believes that Yeti will reach the size of his Uncle Hercules, noting: “I am convinced Yeti will make the Guinness Book of Records. He’s so big already – has such a big, fat head and paws. All the cubs grow so quickly but Yeti is already so much bigger.”

Further, Doc Antle explained that the ligers created quite a buzz, saying: “We’ve had everyone from congressmen to people from all walks of life get on planes to fly in to see such an incredibly unique … they have such a beautiful creamy color that I have never seen on a cat before.”

According to Ligerworld.com: “White ligers are not as much white as their parents but rather they have an off-white creamish color. Their fur color is slightly paler than the normal ligers.”

The Myrtle Beach Safari website notes that their “experience is a fully-guided walking tour which is completely interactive and lasts approximately 3 hours” and visitors can meet Hercules. The site explains that as part of a safari package, “you will be privy to a rare sighting while on tour, as there are believed to be only a handful of ligers worldwide.”

Among the comments on a video about the ligers are those who question whether this type of breeding is responsible, with one concerned commenter saying: “Crossbreeding two animals who’d probably kill each other in the wild, for monetary gain. They clearly don’t care about these poor animals and the genetic defects they suffer. Not to mention, they can’t breed. It’s not fair!”

Viral videos come in all shapes and sizes. But often they revolve around cute animals or babies or they are clips of extreme situations that stun.

Their choreography is spot on, and they’re full of energy and passion for the art of clogging.

While we’ve gone on a bit of a rant about clogging, you might not yet know what it is. But it is a type of dance performance that has a rich history that spans years. These dancers participated in the Clogging Champions of America. And on their website, the CCA describes more about the history of clogging and how it became a championship sport.

“Clogging Champions of America was formed in 1997 to generate more activity and interest in clogging and competition, to promote a spirit of fun and fellowship, and to make sure the beginner clogger will get to enjoy competing as much as the clogger who has been in it for years.”

The CCA also aims “to create an atmosphere of spirited and sportsmanlike competition, and to provide more opportunities for cloggers within the competitive and entertainment realms.”

Clogging can be a great activity and way for people to get exercise, meet like-minded people and have fun.

Instead Of Earning Millions In Hollywood, He Has Saved Over 6000 Young Girls’ Lives

Ashton Kutcher may have stepped back from the Hollywood spotlight for a bit, but he’s making a huge comeback… as a humanitarian, among other things. Some famous folks use their celebrity status and visibility to bring light to issues that need attention and, in this case, Ashton has really done something amazing. Ashton has a successful acting career, as well as being an investor in successful companies, like Airbnb, Spotify and Uber.

It’s his involvement in the anti-human trafficking effort that should get all of the attention, however.

In this 2016 interview, Ashton talked to the Today show about his Netflix series The Ranch, but there was also discussion of the organization he founded with his ex-wife Demi Moore in 2008.

The organization, called Thorn, has the following goal: “to build technology to defend children from sexual abuse.” In 2015, Thorn reported that 75 percent of child sex trafficking survivors surveyed noted they were eventually “sold” online.

Asia, a survivor who talked to Thorn during a 2015 study, explained: “People are posted and sold online multiple times a day. As far as the ad that was posted up [for me], there was a girl who eerily looked like me… just [like] you can go find a car, there was a picture, and a description, and a price.”

Ashton explained: “Basically, the purchase and commerce for human trafficking is happening online, just like everything else now, and so we’re building digital tools to fight back against it.”

Armed with this information, Ashton noted that Thorn “built a tool to help law enforcement prioritize their caseload and recover victims and find traffickers.” He added: “And we’ve found and identified and recovered over 6,000 trafficking victims this year. And we’ve found, identified, and recovered 2,000 traffickers.”

The organization’s website explains:

“We partner across the tech industry, government and NGOs and leverage technology to combat predatory behavior, rescue victims, and protect vulnerable children.

The site also lists 20 members of what it calls The Thorn Technology Task Force, comprised of technology companies that lend their knowledge, time and resources to the work that we do.

Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, and Adobe are listed among the names who are helping Thorn’s cause.”

The organization’s work doesn’t end, however, as Ashton noted: “Our next battle, my next commitment… I’m going to make a pledge that I’m going to eliminate child pornography from the internet.”

Kutcher testified in front of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in February 2017, where he gave a speech about modern day slavery, saying, in part:

“I’m here today to defend the right to pursue happiness. It’s a simple notion: ‘the right to pursue happiness.’ It’s bestowed upon all of us by our constitution. Every citizen of this country has the right to pursue it. And I believe that it is incumbent on us as citizens of this nation, as Americans, to bestow that right upon others, upon each other, and upon the rest of the world. But the right to pursue happiness for so many is stripped away — it’s raped, it’s abused, it’s taken by force, fraud, or coercion. It is sold for the momentary happiness of another.”

Her Drain Kept Getting Clogged, But When We Pulled This Out We Couldn’t Believe Our Eyes

Homeowners need to deal with all sorts of unexpected issues. That’s the reason experts recommend putting aside money in case of emergencies. You never know when the plumbing is going to have an issue, or something goes wrong with the electricity. Perhaps the most common problem homeowners need to deal with is clogged drains and pipes. We’ve shared many natural solutions to help you deal with such a problem, but when this woman’s drain got clogged, she needed expert help to get it unclogged.

And when we saw what was blocking her drain, we gagged. It was utterly disgusting. The woman decided to capture video of her unclogging her drain. Because it was backed up “real good,” she knew it would make an entertaining video.

Little did she know that it would be so disgusting her clip would go viral and get picked up all over the internet including Daily Mail.

The incident took place at the woman’s rental home in Tennessee. And while the video is only 21-seconds long, it is long enough to make you gag and wince.

She unscrews the drain cover and then pulls out the drain stick. This was her last resort after trying natural solutions like baking soda and vinegar to get the drain unblocked.

As she unscrews the drain on camera, she then pulls the stick out of the drain. As she does, along with it comes the disturbing substance that had it blocked all this time. It is a mass of hair that is at least two-feet long.

The Tennessee woman, who is 36, told Mail Online:

“My shower drain had been running slow for some time. I had tried liquid drain cleaner, and that would help for some time, but didn’t completely solve the problem.”

Because it was bad, she knew it was time to get to work and use her hands to fix it.

“Finally, the drain became so slow that there would be standing water in the bottom of the shower because it was draining so slowly.”

When that happened, she knew it was time to get down and dirty with her blocked shower drain. And that’s when she took out the camera and disgusted the internet with what she found in the rental property.

“I remembered my dad using one of these drain sticks when my sister’s and I still lived at home. He had gotten the hair out of the drain with them, but nothing like this! If you notice, I had left the drain cover on at first, thinking I would be able to pull it back through. Once I unscrewed the drain cover and started to pull the stick out, I saw how thick the clog was at the top.”

It was disturbing to know that her shower was blocked with so much hair. Why was so much falling off and going down the drain?

“I decided to put it down and grab my phone and video it as it came out. I had a feeling it was going to be gross, but I had no idea it would be that bad!”

Shutting Down the Internet

Parts of the United States would be starved of electricity, water, food, internet service and transportation for a year or longer by the smallest electromagnetic pulse attack on the electric grid, according to a newly declassified report from a federal commission. The so-called EMP Commission report said that the threat is real, jeopardizes “modern civilization,” and would set back living conditions to those last seen in the 1800s.

Nigerian Rapper Goes Viral with His Take on ‘This Is America’

Last week, a Nigerian rapper released his own version of Childish Gambino’s hit song and music video “This Is America.”

It’s called “This Is Nigeria” and was written and performed by lawyer-turned-musician Falz The Bahd Guy. Like the hugely popular Donald Glover song and video (Gambino is his stage name), the Nigerian version looks at harsh everyday realities.

In “This Is America,” the issues include gun violence, racism and the distraction of viral entertainment and social media. Falz’s lyrics and visuals touch on some of Nigeria’s major problems: poor electricity supply, drug addiction and government corruption. The video even features veiled Muslim girls to allude to Boko Haram’s abductions of schoolgirls in the northeast.

Falz performs in pidgin English, a blend of English and local languages that is widely spoken in West Africa. {snip}

Released on May 25, just four days before the 19th anniversary of democracy in the West African nation, the three-minute video has been viewed on YouTube 2.9 million times. The hashtag #ThisIsNigeria has generated tens of thousands of tweets. And the song has captured the attention of the American rapper Diddy, who reposted “This Is Nigeria” on his Instagram account, where it currently has an additional 2.2 million views.

Falz, whose real name is Folarin Falana, is not new to social commentary. His music often reflects the views of his father, Femi Falana, a popular Nigerian lawyer and human rights activist. Falz’s previous songs “Child of the World,” “Confirm” and “Wehdone Sir” tackle sexual harassment, Internet fraud and the rise of wealthy megachurch pastors.

{snip}

Cultural critics like Joey Akan, a music journalist based in Lagos, are drawing parallels between Falz and Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti.

Until his death in 1997, Kuti also used music to criticize military dictators, corruption and other social problems. But his frankness and acerbic criticism came with consequences: He was arrested on several occasions, jailed and beaten by soldiers.

If anything like that were to happen to Falz, some of his fans say they’ll have his back.
