Town orders biz owner to remove ‘excessive’ flags, his act of defiance sparks groundswell of patriotism

A Massachusetts town order for a business to take down its “excessive” American flags sparked an act of civil disobedience instead.

When a Chelmsford business placed 200 flags on its property to honor America’s veterans for Memorial Day, the last thing it expected was the unpatriotic notice from the town’s building department, WBZ-TV reported.

“On Saturday we came out and we lined this with 200 flags in support of our deceased veterans and all the people who have served,” Laer Reality employee Jon Crandall told WBZ-TV.

When he showed up to work Friday, Crandall said there was a note on the door slapping the business with a violation by the town which cited a statute saying flags cannot be used for “commercial promotion.”

“This is a commercial establishment located at a busy intersection. It was in the front lawn of that particular property, and in the opinion of our code enforcement officer, the building commissioner, it was a violation,” Michael McCall, Chelmsford’s Assistant Town Manager, told WBZ-TV.

But Laer Realty not only did not comply by removing the “excessive” flags, the business doubled down and added another 300 to the display.

“We feel this is a patriotic act. It’s not about our business. It’s about supporting our troops, supporting veterans,” Crandall said. “I think the flags speak for themselves. I don’t think we need to get into a fight with city hall.”

This is not the first year that the flags have been placed,  but it is the first time the business said they had a complaint.

The town government not only got a defiant response from Laer Reality, but residents showed their support by adding flags of their own, tripling the original amount.

Emelie Primeau was one of the residents who was upset by the citation.

“I went to the store and I bought some flags because I believe in what they’re doing,” she told WBZ-TV.

“It was beautiful, but it certainly was not excessive. I don’t think you could have 2,000 out there and it would look excessive,” Crandall said on “Fox & Friends” on Sunday.

Stacey Alcorn, Laer Realty’s CEO, decided to “dig our heels in” when she heard of the town’s order.

“This had nothing to do with our business. It was us as a community just honoring our veterans and those who serve for us,” Alcorn said, pointing out how the display has “grown significantly” because of the community coming out to support the message they are sending.

“Whether they fine or don’t fine us, those flags are staying up, at least through Flag Day and the Fourth of July,” Alcorn said.

Video: FBI agent accidentally shoots patron at a Denver bar while he was getting his groove on

Anyone who thinks disgraced former FBI Director James Comey is the only PR problem in the 109-year-old agency clearly hasn’t met this idiot yet:

This unnamed off-duty FBI agent and complete moron almost killed someone at a Denver nightclub Saturday night when, while performing a back handspring, his gun fell to the ground and went off, sending a bullet speeding into the leg of a patron. While it’s true the victim is reportedly OK, this doesn’t excuse the agent’s incompetence.

What’s even more astounding is that by Sunday morning the perpetrator had not yet been publicly identified. Nor did it appear he would be facing any consequences for his actions.

“Authorities have not identified the agent because he was not arrested, Denver police community resource officer Marika Putnam said,” CNN reported Sunday afternoon. “Denver police will continue investigating the incident, and the district attorney’s office will determine whether charges will be filed against the agent.”

Does anyone really believe the agent will be fired, let alone even suspended?

From failing to stop the Parkland shooter in February to refusing to pursue criminal charges against the Obama-era IRS goons who targeted conservative groups, the contemporary incarnation of the bureau is nothing like the FBI of J. Edgar Hoover.

Nothing better demonstrates this than the behavior of Comey, who successfully transformed the once revered agency into an international laughing stock.

Watch below as he describes to late night host Conan O’Brien about how he once sang a Beyoncé song during a briefing:

What an absolute joke of a man and FBI director. But in his limited defense, at least he never almost killed someone — or at least not that anybody is aware of.

And at least he never once got so drunk with an exotic dancer that he passed out, only to later wake up and discover he’d been robbed blind.

Starbucks CEO fake ‘quote’ directing patrons of color to skip in line was easy to believe. That says a lot.

If someone on Facebook claimed that Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson had just instituted a policy that would allow minorities to move to the head of the line at all of the coffeehouse chain’s outlets, would you believe it?

Some did, and that suggests Starbucks and other organizations like it have tread so far to the radical left that it’s virtually impossible to distinguish fact from fiction anymore.

Check out the original Facebook post that started this controversy below, and make sure to also read the attached comments:

Relax, it was fake. But some people really believed it.

“That’s it! Enough of this white Guilt CRAP! I don’t need coffee that bad!” bellowed one incensed Facebook user.

“I’ll take my white privilege somewhere else!” wrote another.

Sighs …

While it’s tempting to blame these users for being so susceptible to false information, perhaps the blame lies elsewhere.

In the wake of a Philadelphia-based Starbucks calling the cops on two black patrons two months ago after they refused to leave, the coffeehouse chain launched a “progressive” campaign to force left-wing dogma about “implicit bias” down its employees’ throats.

This despite the fact that loitering and trespassing on a private business are grounds for removal/arrest no matter what color you are. But all that apparently mattered to Starbucks was that the far-left was accusing it of being racist.

The notion of “implicit bias” is in itself very suspect, and studies have shown that so-called “implicit bias” training leads to no fruitful results. Starbucks was so desperate to appease the left-wing mob that it didn’t care, though.

Starbucks isn’t the first company (or government agency) that’s succumbed to the far-left’s nonsense, nor will it be the last. And when so many basic societal institutions fall prey to craziness, can you really blame everyday Americans for falling hook, line and sinker for the craziest brand of fake news? Not really.

(Labeled For Reuse Google Image)

If you think about it, it’s not really fake news that’s the problem, as the left would have everyone believe. It’s rather the ongoing deterioration of American society courtesy the left’s racial pandering,  political correctness and soft bigotry of low expectations.

Case in point: If someone told you that a university professor had demanded that his school stop hiring white people because “cis het white people need to lose more,” would you believe it?

If you answered no, then whoops, you got it wrong,  because that really happened!

What if someone told you that a singer had demanded that white audience members move to the back of an music festival? Is that fake news or real news?

Again, it’s real news.

Last but not least, what if someone told you that former President Barack Obama had revealed to the media that he “distrusts white people” because they lie so much? Is that fake or real news?

THAT is actually fake news, but in case you thought it was real, don’t feel bad!

Mike Rowe gets tough with sanctimonious Fox News-hating ‘fan’ after appearance on Tucker irks him

A fan named “John Ray” slammed Mike Rowe for making an appearance on Fox News, declaring that his “cozying up to the right wing” was doing nothing but “pissing off people who would otherwise love you.”

(Image: screenshot)

“I totally get that you think they are ‘furthering your cause’, but they’re not,” John Ray wrote in what Rowe called a “love note” after he spoke on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” last week.

“All you are doing is pissing off people who would otherwise love you. I’ve been with you from the beginning, but this ‘cozying up to the right wing’ stuff is getting increasingly hard to take. And that includes the Koch boys,” Ray wrote.  “Please, go back to being ‘just Mike’, so *everyone* can support you.”

Rowe shared the criticism on Facebook but minced no words in knocking Ray off his soapbox as he explained that he  never claimed to be impartial, only “partial to people who are willing to work hard and master a skill that’s in demand.”

Rowe wrote:

Look, I get that you don’t like Fox, or Tucker, or Hannity, or Charles Koch. I’ve visited your page, and I can understand why you can only take so much of my “cozying up to the right.” What I don’t understand, is your sanctimony. Where were your words of encouragement when I appeared on MSNBC, Meet the Press, NPR, GMA, The Today Show, or Real Time with Bill Maher? Where were your positive comments when I had a weekly show on CNN for the better part of two years? When I appear on liberal platforms, as I often do, why do you never thank me for “cozying up to the Left?”

I welcome your criticism John, sincerely, as well as your advice, but please, spare me the whole, “I’ve been with you from the beginning” routine. If your contempt for Tucker exceeds your fondness for me, then you’re no friend of mine; you’re simply an enemy of Tucker’s. And if you can’t see the difference, then your liberal arrogance is no different from the conservative hubris of my many right wing pals who came here to tell me – even though they “loved” me – that they might have to unlike my page because I popped up on a channel they despise. Like yours, their threats are those of a kidnapper, trying to ransom an item of no value.

Ray’s “assumptions are rooted in a fundamental misperception,” Rowe noted, explaining that he is the same person and has not changed.

The “Dirty Jobs” star also called out the so-called fan for dissing his appearance on Fox News Channel, noting how much exposure the segment got for Rowe’s foundation.

“Last night’s appearance on Tucker Carlson flooded my website with scholarship applications. On this page alone, the clip has been shared over 16,000 times, and viewed by over 2 million people in just 14 hours. How does this fail to ‘further my cause?’ Moreover, what is the actual downside? The loss of a few thousand fair weather fans? Give me a break,” Rowe said. “I’ve raised over $5 million dollars for scholarships by discussing my foundation in this fashion, with a variety of people of all political persuasions.”

Rowe’s new show “Somebody’s Gotta Do It” launched into a new season Saturday on TBN.

DNC’s Keith Ellison says he’s boycotting ‘cowardly’ NFL for making players respect the national anthem

Darn, it appears Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn, is boycotting the NFL over its “cowardly” new policy that requires players to stand for the national anthem or keep their rear-ends in the locker room.

Sundays will never be the same… or, perhaps, they’ll be just fine.

“Friends who know me, know that I love football. But I won’t be watching this NFL season because of the unfair cowardly and idiotic kneeling ban. #BoycottNFL,” the Democratic lawmaker tweeted.

On the same day the league announced a $89 million commitment to social justice programs to combat inequality, team owners agreed to a policy that subjects teams to a fine if a player or any other team personnel do not stand for the anthem. Teams also have the option to fine personnel or players who violate the policy.

The NFL has been rocked with controversy since former player Colin Kaepernick first began kneeling in 2016 o protest racism and police brutality.

The left responded by saying the new policy is an affront to the First Amendment, never mind that players — see employees — are technically on the clock when they protest.

Anyone surprised the Democrat’s siding with NFL players disrespecting the national anthem over claims of police brutality and racism — statistics beg to differ — haven’t been paying attention in post-Obama America.

And while Ellison, deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee, had lots of support from his progressive fan club, a tweet by a social media user demonstrated what a pickle the NFL created for itself by not taking a firm stance from the jump.

“I’ll continue not to invest my dollars in pampered man children who whine about work conditions at a multi-million dollar job,” the tweet read.

Here’s a sampling of other responses that suggest that of all its problems, Ellison not watching games is the least of the NFL’s concerns.

Tensions flare after QVC-HSN merge; stars ‘in shock’ over insulting, condescending memo

The merging of archrival shopping channels QVC and HSN has caused some dissension over a “condescending and disrespectful” email that was circulated last week.

Longtime HSN staffers are not taking kindly to an email from executive Gordie Daniels which put forth a new set of “do’s and don’ts” for on-camera personalities, according to Page Six.

(Image: screenshot)

On-air guests at HSN reportedly feel that QVC is “taking over, memo-by-memo,” as it changes rules and guidelines rather than just merging, sources told Page Six.

“I want everyone to take the used car salesman, in your face delivery and throw it out if this pertains to you,” Daniels wrote in the email sent to dozens of HSN stars. “Act and carry yourself in a professional manner on and off air.”

“Research your product.,” he advised. “Don’t make false claims. Again, this is a new direction and we need to build credibility.”

QVC, which launched in 1986, acquired its rival shopping channel HSN in 2017. The Home Shopping Network, which is based in Florida, launched ahead of its former competitor in 1985 though it had operated as the Home Shopping Club since 1982.

(Image: screenshot)

HSN, home of Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano, had some unhappy employees on hand – some of whom have been with the network for decades – following Daniels’ email.

“Gordie we have not met but I must tell you in the 25 years in business I never received nor have even seen a note as condescending and disrespectful as this,” one guest responded.

“I am still in shock,” another guest, who’s been on the channel for 10 years, replied. “I can assure you that I know my product very well, as I am about to celebrate my 25th year in business.”

A representative for HSN told Page Six that Daniels’ email “was not authorized, reviewed or approved for distribution,” and added, “We see the HSN and QVC cultures as very complementary.”

The company president, Mike Fitzharris, also issued an apology, according to the publication.

FBI agents ready to blow whistle, stick it to bosses; ‘sickened’ by Comey, McCabe, Holder, Lynch …

Joe DiGenova, the former U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, said this week there are many agents in the FBI waiting on Congress to subpoena them so they tell them what they know about the actions of former FBI Director James Comey and former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe.

In an interview with the Daily Caller, DeGenova said the agents are “sickened” by all the charges of corruption being leveled against the FBI.

“There are agents all over this country who love the bureau and are sickened by Comey’s behavior, and McCabe, and [Eric] Holder and [Loretta] Lynch and the thugs like [John] Brennan – who despise the fact that the bureau was used as a tool of political intelligence by the Obama administration thugs,” DiGenova said.

“They are just waiting for a chance to come forward and testify,” he added.

The DC cited an anonymous counter-intelligence consultant who interviewed an active special agent of the FBI’s Washington Field Office, and the agent confirmed what Digenova said.

“Every special agent I have spoken to in the Washington Field Office wants to see McCabe prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” the agent said, according to the transcripts of the interview. “They feel the same way about Comey.”

The source said agents can only safely blow the whistle on their former bosses if they are subpoenaed.

“All Congress needs to do is subpoena involved personnel and they will tell you what they know. These are honest people,” the agent said. “Leadership cannot stop anyone from responding to a subpoena. Those subpoenaed also get legal counsel provided by the government to represent them.”

The agent expressed concerns about harsh retributions and the consultant noted that “on their own as whistleblowers, they get no legal protection and there will be organizational retaliation against them.”

“The administrations are so politicized that any time a special agent comes forward as a whistleblower,” the agent explained, “they can expect to be thrown under the bus by leadership. Go against the Muslim Brotherhood, you’re crushed. Go against the Clintons, you’re crushed. The FBI has long been politicized to the detriment of national security and law enforcement.”

DiGenova, who said last week that former CIA director John Brennan needs to “get himself a good lawyer,” told DC he doesn’t blame them for being concerned.

“I don’t blame the agents one bit. I think that the FBI is in a freefall,” he said. “James Comey has destroyed the institution he claims to love. And it is beyond a doubt that it is going to take a decade to restore public confidence because of Comey and Clapper and Brennan and Obama and Lynch.”

‘Boy Scout’ annual Jamboree event releases new guidelines mandating condoms, green lights alcohol

Boy Scouts leadership has mandated a disturbing requirement for its World Jamboree event next year.

The 24th World Scout Jamboree will be held in West Virginia next summer and it seems the World Scout Committee is requiring that condoms be “readily and easily accessible” at the event, according to the Florida Family Policy Council.

The World Organization of the Scout Movement released its health and safety guidelines which require that host organizations, including Scouts BSA – formerly the Boy Scouts of America, “ensure that condoms are readily and easily accessible for all participants and [International Service Team] at a number of locations on the site.”

But that’s not all.

According to the Florida Family Policy Council:

Stunningly, the World Jamboree Guideline 7.3 also has “exceptions,” allowances and instructions for the consumption of alcohol in “confined areas” at the 12-day camping event. (It appears the Jamboree guidelines were drafted after the 2015 World Jamboree in Japan in preparation for the 2019 event and were just recently released in an email.)

Billed as “a celebration of cultural exchange, mutual understanding, peace, and friendship,” according to an announcement on the event’s page, the jamboree will be hosted by three national Scout organizations: Scouts Canada, Asociación de Scouts de México, and the Boy Scouts of America.

The “Unlock a New World” theme for the jamboree “speaks to the new adventures, cultures, and friendships that will be shared by Scouts from around the world during the event,” the statement added.

“More than 160 national scout organizations representing more than 200 nations and territories are expected to participate in this massive West Virginia 12-day camping event, which based on recent membership policy changes should include openly-gay boys, openly-gay adult scout leaders, transgendered boys and adults and now also girls,” the Florida Family Policy Council stated.

The organization has faced criticism, most recently over the name change from “Boy Scouts of America” to simply “Scouts BSA” in order to accommodate girls who are joining. And after more than century-long relationship, the Mormon Church severed ties with the organization as their values seemed to continue to diverge.

“In light of the mandatory condom policy, it is not clear how far down the rabbit hole the Boy Scouts will continue to fall,” John Stemberger, Florida Family Policy Council president, said in a statement.

“With the addition of condoms and alcohol, the World Jamboree is starting to sound more like a 1960s Woodstock festival rather than a campout that parents would want to send their children to!” he added.

“All of this should be deeply disturbing to the churches that are chartering Boy Scout Troops. These policies present a clear youth protection problem that the BSA absolutely refuses to recognize. The fact that they are requiring that condoms be ‘readily accessible’ and are communicating this to everyone– including youth participants–shows that the BSA is both anticipating and facilitating sexual conduct between minors at this event,” Stemberger said. “These policies are both outrageous and completely irresponsible.”

Host Kelly Clarkson refused to open music awards with moment of silence. Why she defied the orders.

Kelly Clarkson, a native Texan, became emotional Sunday night as she opened up the Billboard Music Awards, paying tribute to the 10 lives lost last week at Santa Fe High School in her home state.

Without getting political, Clarkson declined to call for the prerequisite “moment of silence” for the victims and their families, as she was asked to do, to instead call for a “moment of action” — nonetheless, the liberal media interpreted the appeal as a call for gun control.

“Before we start tonight’s show, there’s something I’d like to say — this is gonna be so hard — about the tragedy Friday at Sante Fe High School,” Clarkson said. “I’m a Texas girl and my home state has had so much heartbreak over this past year. And once again, y’all, we’re grieving for more kids that have died for just an absolute, no reason at all.”

Choking back tears and struggling to find the words, the popular recording artist said the show asked her to do a moment of silence.

“Tonight they wanted me to say that, obviously we want to pray for all the victims, you want to pray for their families,” Clarkson said. “But they also wanted me to do a moment of silence and I’m so sick of moment of silence.”

“Like it’s not working,” she said, as tears began to fall. “Why don’t we not do one of silence, why don’t we do a moment of action? Why don’t we do moment of change, why don’t we change what’s happening because it’s horrible.”

Clarkson, who told NPR in 2012 she’s a gun owner and that she slept with a Colt .45, didn’t define the change she was calling for and didn’t mention restricting access to guns — she told NPR that she owned nine guns.

The “American Idol” star said “mommas and daddies should be able to send their kids to school, to church, to movie theaters, to clubs — you should be able to live your life without that kind of fear.”

“We need to do better,” Clarkson said.

“I can’t imagine — I have 4 children — I cannot imagine getting that phone call or that knock on the door,” she said through tears, before adding that she’ll respect and honor the victims by calling for a moment of change, asking people to get involved in finding a solution.

NJ school official apologizes after berating officer, calls chief a ‘skinhead’ in profanity-laced tirade

A member of a New Jersey school board has apologized for the tirade against a police officer who pulled her over and for calling the local police chief “a skinhead cop.”

“I had an irrational response to being stopped for a traffic violation. I allowed my emotions to overwhelm me that morning, and I fell short of the standards to which I hold myself,” Stephanie Lawson-Muhammad said in a statement according to NJ.com.

WARNING: GRAPHIC LANGUAGE

The South Orange-Maplewood School Board member can be heard in a profanity-filled rant in a dashcam video of the April 27 traffic stop. She was pulled over for speeding while dropping her child at school and complained about going to court when she was ticketed by South Orange police officer, Shaun Horst.

The school official, who is black, told the white police officer that she’s “scared of cops because you guys hurt black people,” and was heard saying she would “call Sheena … and your skinhead cop chief, too,” apparently referring to South Orange Village President Sheena Collum and Chief Kyle Kroll.

(Image: Facebook)

“Like many parents, I was trying to get my children to their schools on time,” Lawson-Muhammad explained in her statement. “When the police officer stopped me, I was upset, frustrated, and uncharacteristically out of sorts. And to my benefit, the officer did not react to my behavior. The officer kept an even tone in our interaction and performed his job well under the circumstances. I thank him for his patience.”

She even apologized to the police chief.

“He is not the person I made him out to be,” Lawson-Muhammad said of Kroll. “He sincerely accepted my apology and agrees that we will work together to help heal our community. We have begun plans to work with community stakeholders to build stronger bonds and greater trust for the entire community.”

Lawson-Muhammad was encouraged to work with Kroll by Board president Elizabeth Baker in order to “repair the harms that her statements caused.”

“This meeting reflects the beginning of a difficult, restorative dialogue. Such a dialogue takes personal courage and a shared commitment to our community,” Baker said in a statement, according to NJ.com.

Some do not believe it should be that easy to move on. Walter Fields has accused Lawson-Muhammad of using her “civic privilege” during a routine traffic stop and has called for her to resign. Fields is chairman of the Black Parents Workshop which has filed a federal lawsuit against the district for allegedly segregating students, prompting a $127 million solution by district leaders.

“The officer should be commended for his professionalism, demeanor and the respect he showed a citizen who immediately attempted to use her position to intimidate him,” Fields wrote in a letter to Baker. “There are real incidents of police misconduct. This was not one of them.”
